Circa 1650, Grade 2 Listed Building, Balsall Common
An age old problem with Timber Frame Construction and Brick Infil Pannels would be a debonding action between The Lime Mortar and the Timber Framing. This could be a weak point that would allow water ingress. We fixed off expanding mesh to all elevations where brick meets timber. A case of new meets old. This introduction could increase the bonding between the two materials and prevent water ingress. Another modern twist was to apply a coat of Clear Sealer to the face of the Brickwork and run a bead of silicon between the Timber and Brickwork. We was satisfied the works were supertight.
